Case reviews for veterinary surgeons
Providing behavioural first‑aid and medication advice
This includes a full review of the pet’s medical history, a written report, evidence-based medication suggestions where appropriate, and an outline of any possible medical comorbidities.
This option offers veterinary colleagues specialised behavioural first-aid advice or guidance on psychoactive medications.
If a more detailed assessment becomes appropriate, full behavioural referral is always available.
Includes one month of follow-up support via WhatsApp or email.
When a Case Review Is Suitable
Veterinary case reviews are appropriate when a structured, history-based assessment will support clinical decision‑making. They are particularly useful for:
- Reviewing current or proposed psychoactive medications.
- Providing behavioural first‑aid or interim management advice.
- Considering how physical health factors may be influencing behaviour.
- Working with you to identify when further medical investigation may be warranted.
- Helping you decide if the case needs a full behavioural referral.
When a Case Review Is Not Suitable
Case reviews are not appropriate for every patient:
- Cases requiring extensive ongoing behavioural support or training.
- Situations where direct assessment of the pet and caregiver is essential.
- Complex cases where a full behavioural referral would provide more appropriate depth and continuity.
- Situations where the client is seeking a full treatment plan or long-term behaviour modification programme.

This fee is payable by the referring practice.

Please note
- Reviews cannot be completed on incomplete clinical histories or where the online questionnaire has not been submitted.
- Reviews are normally completed within two weeks of receiving all relevant information. During periods of annual leave or increased demand, turnaround times may be slightly longer, and any changes will be clearly communicated to referring practices.
